4 Free-Agent Destinations for David Perron
The NHL's free-agent market has dried up considerably as we are in the middle of the dog days of summer, but that doesn't mean there isn't some solid veteran talent still looking for a contract. Winger David Perron continues to sit without work for next season, as he's surprisingly hasn't signed a new deal. Perron spent last season split between the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators, posting 13 goals and 28 points in 65 combined games. Perron remains one of the better free agents available, and considering his pesky, in your face style of play, it's borderline shocking a contending team hasn't offered a contract. Talks have been extremely quiet, and it's not out of the question to see Perron sign a PTO before training camps open in September. As far as potential destinations go, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and Seattle Kraken are certainly three teams to circle. While the Philadelphia Flyers are another, as they have loads of cap space, and a general manager who Perron is very close with off the ice. The Flyers have been trying to be super aggressive this summer, as Daniel Briere is trying to take his team to another level. Perron's expected to play next season, and it doesn't appear retirement is even a question. He's appeared in 1239 NHL career games, recording 332 goals, 480 assists, for 812 points, along with 877 penalty minutes, and another 64 points in 110 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Perron should be signed, he still has plenty left in the tank, and he knows his role among a bottom six to be a pest, and tough to play against.
