Flyers Sign Ex-Maple Leafs Prospect Nikita Grebenkin To Multi-Year Deal
He arrived in Philly as part of the return when they sent Scott Laughton to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2025 trade deadline. Now, as a restricted free agent, Nikita Grebenkin has been re-signed by the Philadelphia Flyers on a two-year, $2.2 million extension ($1.1M AAV). OFFICIAL: We have agreed to terms with forward Nikita Grebenkin on a two-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $1.1M. — Philadelphia Flyers (@NHLFlyers) August 6, 2026 He became an RFA this summer after the expiry of his entry-level contract. Grebenkin was a higher-end prospect in the Leafs' organization before they dealt him to the Flyers, and in his first full season in Philly, the 23-year-old right-winger played in 55 games, averaging 11:17 time on ice per night. The 6'2", 210-pounder recorded four goals and 14 points, while handing out 86 hits. An upper-body injury in March cut his rookie year short, as he missed the last 13 games of the campaign. What does newly-re-signed Grebenkin bring to the Flyers' lineup? The Russian native brought a physical edge, and an agitator-type role to his fourth-line duties. According to Cole Keller of Broad Street Hockey , Grebenkin " can be an incredibly effective fourth liner for this team moving forward. " While he wasn’t the most consistent player this year, he flashed the level of play that the best-case scenario of Grebenkin might eventually be. Rookie inconsistencies are to be expected, and injuries aside, it’s hard not to leave this (past) season excited about what Grebenkin might be." He is expected to be fully healthy and ready for the start of training camp.
