Former Maple Leafs Forward Linked To PTO With 2 Teams

Calle Jarnkrok continues to be a free agent and without any one-year deals on his lap to consider, expect to see the versatile veteran forward sign a professional tryout agreement (PTO). Daily Faceoff's Mike Gould recently highlighted Jarnkrok as an under-the-radar type of signing as the offseason winds down, and has linked Jarnkrok to potentially signing a PTO with the San Jose Sharks or Edmonton Oilers. Jarnkrok spent the past four seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and while in the first two years he was seeing some time on Auston Matthews' wing, and a huge part of the team's penalty kill, these past two seasons have been plagued with injuries, and Jarnkrok feel considerably out of favor of Craig Berube behind the bench. Last year, Jarnkrok dressed in just 56 games, scoring six goals and two assists, for eight points. The year prior, he played just 19 games due to injuries. Jarnkrok seems like a good fit for the Oilers, and a player that Mike Babcock would love, as Jarnkrok has a strong work ethic, loves to win 50/50 battles, and is very solid defensively. He's lost a step these past couple of years, so he'll have to prove he can keep up in training camp and carve out a role for himself. If it's not the Oilers, the Sharks do make sense as he's very familiar with Mike Grier, and the Sharks need more veteran forwards in their lineup to help push their young core to new heights. If the Oilers and Sharks don't end up adding Jarnkrok to training camp, don't be surprised to see the Nashville Predators circle in, and look to reunite with the former Predator.

Oilers Insider Warns Of Regret Over Franchise Blueline Trade

The trade that brought Mattias Ekholm to Edmonton has been one of the most lopsided wins of the Ken Holland era. According to Edmonton Journal columnist David Staples , that's about to get complicated. Staples argues the Oilers are set to feel real blowback from the February 2023 deal, not because Ekholm hasn't lived up to his end, but because the prospect Edmonton gave up, Reid Schaefer, has finally started to look like the player Nashville hoped for. A Trade That's Aged Perfectly For E...
