Brady Tkachuk Speaks Out On Getting Booed In Canada: ‘It’s Great!’

Brady Tkachuk became public enemy No. 1in Ottawa after the Senators captain forced his way into a trade to Florida this off-season. But earlier this year, he had already earned the same status in all of Canada after his performance on the ice and in the aftermath of Team USA defeating Canada for the Gold Medal at the Olympics. He discussed the situation with his brother Matthew on their Wingmen podcast this week. Brady says he was booed in nearly every Canadian arena, and frankly, he says he loved it. Brady Tkachuk says Canadian fans hate him so much that they boo him every time he touches the puck, ranking Toronto as the most hostile arena in the league. "Toronto was the loudest boo because it was after a scrum, and they had me on the Jumbotron, and everybody was booing me"… pic.twitter.com/XiGofKEqtV — Rixlerr (@rixlerr) August 25, 2026 I love getting booed. I think it's so funny, it's great. It means you're doing something right. Tkachuk ranked the boos from Toronto Maple Leafs fans as the most vociferous. "Toronto was the loudest boo because it was after a scrum, and they had me on the Jumbotron, and everybody was booing me. "And I was so close to doing something outrageous... I was going to do something outrageous, but I was like, 'Nah, I don't want to put anybody in a bad spot'". Oilers fans ranked second for booing, followed by Flames fans. "Second, I'm going to go with Edmonton... they were giving it to me pretty good, and I got a penalty in overtime. "Third was Calgary. Just every time I touched the puck, they were giving it to me". He said that Vancouver was the only place in Canada where he didn't hear any boos, though in an interesting twist, he also said, "Seattle, nothing." That prompted social media to explode with comments about Tkachuk thinking that the Pacific Northwest city was in Canada. Of course, Canadian fans often travel to Seattle for games, so if we give him the benefit of the doubt, perhaps that's what he was alluding to. Brady Tkachuk was traded this off-season from the Ottawa Senators to join his b ig brother Matthew with the Florida Panthers. For his part, Matthew added that he felt getting booed "helps so much." But if Brady thought the booing in Toronto was bad this past season, we can't wait to see how it goes it Ottawa on October 21, the Panthers' first visit to Canada's capital this coming season.
