Report: NY Rangers Linked To Maple Leafs' Goalie Anthony Stolarz

It's true that Anthony Stolarz did not have his best game for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night in Utah. A couple of soft ones got by him, allowing the Mammoth to escape with a 5-4 win. But let's be honest—that doesn't mean the Leafs are going to go looking to trade Stolarz. Does it? According to insider Darren Dreger , speaking on the Ray Dregs podcast on Wednesday, the New York Rangers are eyeing Stolarz as one of the options in their tentative search for a potential goaltending fix, if needed. I think they've actually kicked tires on Anthony Stolarz... But if you're Toronto, why would you do that? Unless there's an overpay. I mean, they like that combo of Sergei Bobrovsky and Stolarz. Indeed, that combination led the Florida Panthers to the first of their back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2024. Stolarz posted a league-leading .925 save percentage that year in 27 appearances. He followed that up coming to the Leafs and once again recording the NHL's best save percentage in 2025, with a .926 Sv% in 34 outings. Certainly, last season, injuries and poor performance (both by him and the dreadful defense in front of him), led to a drop-off. Rangers doing their due diligence to monitor goaltending help But the Rangers are leaving no stone unturned as they continue to monitor their crease, now firmly in the hands of rookie Dylan Garand. So far, so good, as all he's done is go 3-0-0 with a sizzling .957 Sv% and 1.00 goals-against average in his three starts. The Blueshirts lost their superstar netminder Igor Shesterkin to a season-ending injury last week, and backup Joonas Korpisalo is injured. New York must do its due diligence just in case Garand begins to falter (no sign of that yet, though, to say the least). But Garand is just 24, with only six career starts under his belt. He was put on waivers by the team during training camp. He's come a long way in a short period of time. It remains to be seen how he holds up. Will the Rangers come calling on Leafs GM John Chayka again to check back in on Stolarz at some point?
